Ruby Falls/Cardinal River Road
Just wondering if any of the Hinton chapter guys have been over the divide down towards the Ruby Falls trail head lately. Amanda and I are thinking of going for a day trip down around the area this coming Friday and just wondering how much snow there is still. Any input is appreciated. Cool

Taking her JK. Not really looking to do anything hardcore but might poke around a little if the snow isn't too deep.

RE: Ruby Falls/Cardinal River Road
Just in case anyone is wondering, we did make it out this way on Friday and have a report of sorts. The Pembina River Road is only plowed about a third of the way to Cardinal River road so we had to turn around. The snow in the road was probably two feet deep still and with only us I didn't feel like tempting fate. As it was, I got us stuck turning around and thought I'd be safe backing up to the wind row, but as it turns out it was pretty soft there and the back tires just sunk until we were on the belly pan. Good thing I finally got here winch on last year.Smile After that, we turned around and thought we'd try from the Cadomin side but the same thing. Just outside of town towards the mine the road is unmaintained from Oct.1 to May.1. We tried heading up a ways thinking we might be able to get to the divide but the first three foot drift we came across was where we turned around again. I think that it would be a fun run just on the road let alone trying to do the Ruby Falls trail. Kind of reminded me of all the vids that show people snow wheeling on the fire roads in several feet of snow. Maybe an Easter club run sponsored by Edmonton and Hinton for next year . Big Grin
